Blue roses

Let me start the day with the news.

Dog doesn't look too happy. Probably annoyed that our PM didn't attend the summit...

And now for something completely different.
Here is a t-shirt I got for my birthday. Love the color.

Of course, I had to find matching accessories. Synthetic opals, very fashionable in Israel about 10 years ago. I have a matching necklace and 3 pairs of earrings too!

The sleeves are cute too.

After work we went to the ranch, Kid had a lesson and I had a smooch-session with the horses. I bring them a bag of carrots or apples everytime I go there. As soon as they see me they perk up. They probably think that Carrot is my middle name.
Here I am with Jojo.

And this is Blondie. He is my horse, we meet every Friday. I keep apologizing to him for gaining some weight.
The black dog's name is Socks, she loves carrots too. All the dogs at the ranch who didn't like carrots before love them now. I guess I spoiled them all.
It was really windy hence my Conan hair. Blondie looks much more put together. He's really sweet. Mind you, there were two of them in there and when the other horse tried to come in for a scratch, Blondie chased him away. This horse is always ready for a hug, he puts his head on your shoulder and freezes.
OK I'll stop now.

My Son the Cowboy

I've been meaning to show off my son's riding photos for quite some time. So while I don't have any outfit pictures today (working at home again), I'll post some photos taken by my lovely Paris cousin during her visit in September.

We love going to the ranch. It's totally different from the "other life" here. Good people, animals, trees, fields - good atmosphere. On Wednesdays we go there for Jack's lessons, and my Husband comes straight from work. He says the change is amazing. Brings him peace of mind. (Poor guy works in construction, it's like a war zone most of the time).

Here is Jack and Jojo, his favorite horse. Jojo is a relatively small horse (not a pony), very good-natured and eager to run. No need to wear spurs.

The ranch is next to a road. The horses are used to cars, but loud vehicles like quad-bikes (with crazy teenagers on them) can spook them. Jojo got spooked once but Jack handled it very well.

It's a tiny ranch. One large corral and two small ones. On good days the guys go out into the surrounding fields for trips. It breaks the routine.
Here is a shot of the stables. The horses are under the roof but it's an open stable. The weather in Israel allows it. Horses, cats, dogs, chickens. Classic isn't it?

Jack is part of a small group. Here they are. The last horse in line is Brandy, I used to ride him (and even posted a photo). Brandy is difficult, temperamental and extremely smart. You have to show him who's the boss. When I ride Brandy, he's usually the boss, and we always struggle. After riding Brandy my muscles ache for a week...

And the last photo says it all. Huge smile. As it should be.

We have a class tonight at 5:30. I better go chop up some carrots "for the lads".

I'm a cowboy baby!

Well, my car is officially fixed. I went back to install the door handle that was missing before. It took approximately 15 minutes to walk in, say hello - and it was done! Ladies, all our visits to the car shops should be this short! I'll drink to that later tonight!

They called me from the garage just as I finished my shower, so I quickly dressed and went there with my hair absolutely wet. By the way, this is totally acceptable in Israel. You see women with wet hair in the morning, running to work all the time. So I didn't feel too bad.

I'm wearing brown leggings and a beige top with woven detailing on the bodice and pockets. On the label it says "Booba" which means "doll" in Hebrew. Added some gladiators and that was it. I'm very careful with leggings, wearing them with tunics down to my knees or almost there. Normally I'd put on some heels but didn't feel like it today.

Last night was my Kid's horseriding class. I had two very nice surprises waiting for me at the ranch. First - he did so well! Trot and canter, handling of the horse - pleasure to watch. The other children in his group had their spurs on but Kid didn't and the horse listened to him and did what he told it to do.

And here's the second surprise:

I've ordered them sometime ago and they are here! Durango RD 3122 in sage. With a spur ledge. By the way, for those who don't like spurs. I couldn't hurt a horse even if I tried to. I'm wearing the boots around the house today, trying to break them in. These are my "powerful boots". And the spurs finally started to make that clicking noise when I walk. I feel so cool that I forget about the silly helmet we're supposed to wear.

God, I'm so shallow!

The weekend is here

Having just returned from six days in Turkey, I should be well rested and full of energy. But I welcome the weekend. All the energy I had was spent in the kitchen experimenting with different kinds of yoghurt in pursuit of a perfect tzatziki. Experiment was successful, and the proof is the empty tub of tzatziki in my dishwasher. It went perfectly with hot and spicy meatballs in tomato sauce.

My energy carried me through the fields while horseriding - I ride every Friday at four. It's my weekly psychotherapy session. I started riding in February. Here is a photo of my very first attempt not to fall from the horse. I look deceptively confident here. But lovely Brandy could tell you the truth.

Pay no attention to the date in the corner. Honestly, it was February 2009, I'm just too lazy to erase it (I confess, I'm not sure how to do it).

So now I'm beat. And what am I going to do for the rest of the weekend? The answer is in this photo taken by my cousin. Paris, Seine, sunny day, man having a siesta. Why not?

New guy in the house

We have pets. Hang on, let me show you.

This is Boomer. He's the oldest, he's five. He used to be the size of his head when we got him. We love him to bits.

This is three year old Skanky (Husband picked the name). She's a garbage cat, found weighing less than 400 g (much less than a pound).
Dog protested for a couple of days but now they're best friends.
Look. This is last winter.

But two days ago this little ghost showed up at our doorstep. He looks about 2 months old, pure white except for pink ears and orange eyes. Another garbage cat, we have lots of those in the neighborhood. He came up to the front door and asked to let him in. So I did. And I gave him a bath. And this is what we've got now.

Meet Prince (as in "the artist formerly known as...) You may say that he doesn't look like The Prince. But the personality fits.

So now Skanky is in shock! All you hear in the house is hissing and spitting when these two cross paths. But Boomer has been great. Accepted little Prince right away. I'm so proud of him (please don't kill me, I'm now always this sucky I promise).

And to finish this centimental post is my outfit photo. This is how I went to my Kid's horseriding class:
Dress: Zara
Boots: Guess via ebay
Belt: my friend's shop
Angie at youlookfab posted about wearing boots with bare legs and it gave me an idea. People at the ranch liked it. Must be the "disco" cowboy boots.
