Copying Myself

I copied my outfit from last Tuesday, just changed the jeans color. Same jacket, same top.
I wore black booties instead of pumps and this threw the whole thing off.

I think the contrast between the jeans and the boots was too much, plus the jeans bunched up at the bottom. Looking at this picture I wish I'd done it differently. The black boots visually shorten my legs. Or maybe it's all in my head, I don't know.

I seriously love this top.

Update on the Garnier BB Cream

A week ago I mentioned that I bought Garnier BB Cream, Miracle Skin Perfector. I've been using it all week and I love it. It's easy to apply, doesn't streak, makes my skin look even, stays on all day and requires less T-zone touch ups. I thought I'd try it out for a day or two and then switch back to my beloved Chanel foundation till summer heat. I haven't used the foundation since I started on this cream. Which means something because I'm on my third bottle of Chanel (and I never stick to one product, I like to change them).

Anyway, I give this stuff thumbs up, even though Makeupalley (where I nicked this picture from) gives it only 3.2 rating and says that 52% would buy this product again which is not much.

I'm thinking on stocking up on this while they sell it at half price.

Snake Dreams

The very first day I decided to wear my white jacket happened to be... rainy! Luckily for me, the rain had stopped by the time I had to go catch my bus.

I felt very Spring-like in my pastel tones. I wore H&M snake-print jeans, pink blouse and the jacket that belonged to my late mother-in-law. I dare say it's vintage, the label says "Separate editions by Koret".

Took this photo in the morning, my eyes are still closed.

Felt a bit funny walking by the H&M store and seeing the same jeans in their window. Went in to look for mint colored items (like this dress) but they didn't have any. Zara on the other hand had loads. But I'm not in the buying mode this week, just looking. Tempted though, oh so tempted...

Came home and had to change clothes immediately to avoid dog, cat and everything else. Cat followed me upstairs and tried to get into the picture (I didn't even see him then).

Close-up of my wrinkled shirt and pants.

And of my "multiple-braceleted" wrist. I love this little watch, it was a gift from my husband on our first Christmas in Vancouver, Canada in 1994. Wow, how long ago was that!

Came home from work at 5 pm sharp. Not bad. Tomorrow is the 11-hour-day. Good luck to me.

Matchy Gold and Black

Yesterday I was matchy to a point. Several people commented on it (favorably). The main focal point was this colorblock skirt. Black and gold, I paired it with a black top, a very safe choice. The clutch was a bit wild, I found it in Aldo last week and pounced.

The skirt was a perfect match for these Zara pumps. I don't remember which I got first, but they were meant to be together.

I had to carry my coat in a large paper bag, it was too hot in the daytime for long sleeves.

A close up of the clutch. It will probably go with everything I have. Not too roomy but not tiny either. It has a chain shoulder strap but I left it at home.

I had to take extra photos of the skirt and shoes.

My nail polish looks nice amongst all those neutrals. It's Elephantastic pink by OPI.

Last photo including my coat and leopard flats. I'm still breaking in those shoes. I could have walked to the bus in them but you never know when you have to chase the damn thing!

I'll definitely wear this combination again. Next time without stockings. I added thin cork inserts to prevent slippage and it helped, but bare feet is the way to go for me.

Impersonate a Blogger

I often turn to fashion blogs for outfit inspiration. I see something I like, figure out how I can put together a similar look with what I have and then I do it (results vary). I've been doing it so often that
I've come up with a name for this "feature" on my blog. Why not call it "Impersonate a Blogger". I've done it here and here and here.

So there we go. My latest effort. When I saw this post on Atlantic-Pacific, I had to stop and breathe for a bit. The print and colors of the blouse are just breathtaking, and in combination with white jeans the whole outfit just radiates Spring.

In this case I didn't have anything like this in my wardrobe. But I was so taken with the blouse, I just went to Zara and bought it.

Washed my hair that morning, blowdried it but didn't have time for straightening. Looking at these photos I wish I fixed my hair even if it meant being late for work...

I was happy with the way the outfit turned out.

In fact, I was a walking Zara ad. Again. Everything but the bag is from there. Blouse, jeans, shoes, trench, paper bag.

I must wear this blouse again before it gets too hot. I love it.

I have some other blogger impersonating ideas. More to follow.

Heels and Flats

I took only one picture on Monday. I wore orange pants with my favorite top and trench. And my "hobo" boots because I had to do some walking around. And I felt squat and dumpy all day, even though I was really comfortable.

So yesterday I decided to wear heels (Bare feet time! Yeah!). The comfort level went down but the feeling and the mood was much improved (in spite of crazy hair).

I like the faux collar on this Zara top.

"Clever" picture from the H&M dressing room. I could have probably bought this top in M instead of L, but the material is totally non-stretchy and I wanted some freedom of movement.

Anyway, it looks good under a jacket. And when the weather is too hot for jackets, I'll be switching to lighter natural fabrics anyway.

I look kinda wide in this one. "Does this shirt make me look fat"?

While taking my picture in Zara I saw these beauties and in my size. But I didn't buy them. The heel is quite high. I need to know that I'll be able to walk to the bus in the shoes, this is the ultimate test. I have enough semi-walkable shoes in my closet. Too bad, they are beautiful and the leather is buttery soft.

I'm home today, doing some translations, cleaning (if I'm not too lazy) and grocery shopping. Much needed day of semi-rest.

Some time ago I mentioned that my son was obsessed with the game called "Tresspasser". It's from 1998 and we couldn't find it anywhere. Well, last week I found it on ebay and after some online bidding fight I won it! This other person tried to outbid me. But in the end he realised that he is dealing with a stubborn mother and gave up. I had to wake up at 4 a.m. in order to make sure that nobody outbids me again! (shaking fist in the air).

The game has been shipped and in about two weeks my son will be spending more time in front of the computer. Does this make me a good mom or a bad one?

Teddy Bear

I have two jumpsuits in my "collection". On Sunday I decided to wear one of them. I was supposed to work till 3 pm.

I ended up working till 7 pm. Trips to the bathroom were fun!

I wore a thin jacket over my jumpsuit. It was fine for 3 pm but I froze my butt off in the evening.

But at least I got to wear my jumpsuit! Right?

Out and About

Remember this post where I tried to dress up like the Brooklyn Blonde? Well, I did it again.
Here is the inspiration photo.

I didn't want to be a complete copy-cat, I kept the idea but changed certain things. Like the coat. I already put my brown suede coat away for the summer (I'm optimistic), and it was too cold for bare feet and pumps. Did I just contradict myself?

I asked the Kid to take my picture. Because he was sitting on a bench with my Dad doing nothing. All of us were just waiting for my Mom who was in a shop browsing spring-summer merchandise.

On, see that red car in the background? I have one just like that. (That one's not mine, we came in my parents' car).

I asked the Kid to take another picture because the other one was too dark. He did. Right next to a toy store "Red Pirate". Guess whose picture they have as The Pirate? It's hard to see, but it's John Galliano! I swear! In Israel after all the scandal! But nothing surprises me anymore after I saw posters of Osama in one of the shops saying "Only he will pay full price". That was shortly after 9/11. Such bad taste, to say the least. That shop is not there anymore. But I digress.

Me without a coat, obviously at home.

This is the only thing I bought today (I also got some Earl Grey tea but it doesn't count). The latest craze - BB cream. I got it in "medium" because I intend to use it in the summer when I get a little suntan. Everybody gets suntanned here, you just have to take your dog for a walk once, and you're done.

Here I squeezed a blob out of the tube and lightly smeared it on my hand. It has a yellow tinge to it which is good, yellow counteracts the redness. They had the "light" as well but it was slightly pinky. I'll try this out tomorrow and if it's any good, I'll get another tube. The introduction price is too good to pass up.

See the next photo? I blended it a little bit, and it's almost invisible. Plus my hands are lighter than my face. I think.

All in all, a good Saturday. Didn't spend too much money and got something new to try out.

It's a Stork!

That's what people must have said when they looked at me yesterday. Elegant black trench and all, but what is that sticking out from under it?

Well, it seemed a good day to wear my Zara coated jeans with a neutral blouse.

The day was a bit crazy, had to run off in the middle of work day for a doctor's appointment with the Kid. The shirt kept getting clingy because of static electricity, every time I took my coat off I sparked like a severed cable.

Was so glad it's the weekend. The weather is nasty again, must be the last throes of winter. Rainy and windy all day, and I've just put away most of my winter clothes. Seasonal change of the wardrobe is a painful process. Out of season clothes is stuffed away into a small cupboard under the stairs, boots go into a separate storage space behind the main closet. Lots of crawling and bending over, that's my seasonal exercise.

Red Polka Dots

Gosh, do I look mean in the first photo or what!

I finally unveiled my H&M red polkadot skirt. The weather was good enough for the ancient suede wedges, short-sleeved linen top, also ancient (from Canada 1996-ish) and bright yellow cardi.

Added a thin white jacket and off I went.

I felt Mad Man-ish all day with the help of pearls, eyeliner and bright lipstick (MAC Cindy Lauper from Viva Glam collection).

And today it's raining again. Snooker ran out and went up on the roof. Came back filthy and wet. I had to give him a bird-bath in the sink, or is it cat-bath now? He didn't object too much, just loudly complained about his predicament. I wanted to take a picture but he wouldn't come out from under the table. I didn't want to humiliate him even more so left him there. He is mournfully licking himself now. What a drama queen!

Neutral Day

I guess I'm a neutral person. I mean, neutral colors are easier for me than brights. And while I loved wearing that colorful Zara skirt the other day, I feel more "at home" in beige and brown. With a bright spot or two.

This suit is perfect for the very short Israeli spring. Short-sleeved top underneath the jacket and you're set. And I could wear shoes without socks which is more comfortable for me.

I bought this jacket for it's neckline only. I love how it frames whatever you wear under it.

These Nine West heeled loafers are amazingly comfortable. They had them in dark red leather and sand-color suede. I wanted to get the suede but they were extremely narrow and hurt my feet after two minutes in the shop. So I got the safe brown option.

All that talk about loving neutrals, and I'm so colorful today.
Pictures to follow soon.

Wedding

Last night I went to a wedding. The place where it all happened was huge and really beautiful, the food was great and the people watching was excellent.

The bride is of Yemenite origin and the groom is South African. The mix of relatives and guests was amazing. Both families are religious, so the wedding was a little different for me. First of all, when the dancing started, they put up a screen between men and women. Men and women dance separately. Mind you, the men crashed the women's circle for about 10 minutes when bride and groom were lifted in their chairs up in the air.

So the young couple doesn't share their first dance like in a Russian wedding. The bride was dancing with the girls and the groom with the guys. And the dancing was different from what I'm used to. They all held hands and danced in a huge circle, I think it's called "hora". Everybody was clapping their hands.

Just to interrupt the narrative, here is what I was wearing. I had some other shoes in mind but they turned out to be unwearable with tights. And I went with these black Aldos.

And what was my favorite moment? Apart from when they brought me the steak?
The African song. The South African party paid respects to their country tradition and heritage and it was so touching.

All in all, great experience, good fun, nice company. And quite a late night. Work was tough today.
But it was worth it.

Colorful while Under Attack

It's hard to write an OOTD post when you have air-raid warning signal going off. So far we've had six of them today and one of the "grads" fell in town that is 5 minutes drive from here. It sucks.

Anyway, happy thoughts. I was quite happy with this Zara skirt. Even though it stretched in the butt region by the end of the day. It's very light weight and should be perfect for summer.

I took my heels with me and wore flats. It was quite fortunate as I had to run like hell after work to catch the bus.

This is me with heels. I'm quite sure now that these booties are from different pairs. The snake design on the capped toes is different. But to me it makes the boots more interesting. I am a master of denial. Anybody wants private denial lessons?

Tonight I'm going to a wedding. Kind of hate to leave my guys here with all that's going on. Kid's been off school since Sunday and looks like there'll be no school tomorrow, Ashdod got hit today (no fatalities but cars and buildings were damaged). After the first Gulf war I never thought I'd have to hear sirens again, it's the most disturbing sound that gets deep inside of you because you know the danger is real. But hey, to quote Faux Fuchsia, this is not a blog about world peace... Or lack thereof.
